Our Story ........

Nothing like a good story to get the ball rolling!! Let’s start off with saying that I’m not your regular personal trainer and have definitely went down the road less travelled …..…. 

My Dad tells a story (and a good one at that) about the 6 years spent in college, miraculously obtaining a Mechanical Engineering Degree and a Finance Masters after that. Friends will tell a story about the 6 years spent in the College Bar getting an education in how to sink pints and make shots of whiskey disappear into thin air!! Good times :)

Questionable careers followed as a Finance “professional” in both Dublin and New York and as a barman in Midtown Manhattan. All valuable lessons in the school of life.

Taking Action ……  

For a long time I wanted to be a fitness trainer, but the truth is I wasn’t sure I could be one. I thought of all the reasons I couldn’t before one day finally deciding to take actioncommit and finally enroll in a personal training certification program. But it was not all plain sailing. At all at all. There was fear and lots of it! And failures. Even more of them ……. 

Fear in registering for a personal training certification, fear to leave a “steady” job and take the road of uncertainty, fear in asking Andy Moran for floor shifts in his gym in Castlebar, fear in approaching Eoghan O Kelly for an internship with Hanuman Health Club New York, fear in coaching that 1st class ….. the list goes on.  

Learning from the best ……… 

I have been very fortunate to have received (and continue to get) a great education with some of the best minds in the industry, and in doing so realize that you can never ever stop learning.

In saying that I do think that keeping it simple is key to getting results in this industry. As the saying goes, we are drowned with information but starved for knowledge. So far a common sense approach has helped us to improve the lives and bodies of many by increasing people’s energy through better exercise, nutrition and mindset practices.

Finding a calling …… 

I am very lucky to say that I love what I do. There is no better feeling than having someone say “thank you” for having a small hand in them getting to their goals or becoming a happier/healthier version of themselves or doing things they thought would never be able to do or never be able to do again. And again, there is no better feeling than challenging yourself with a team of friends to run a stupidly long obstacle course race and raise bucket loads of money for worthy causes.

Building a tribe …… 

One of the best things about health and fitness is the Community Spirit it creates and the good that goes with it. And there we come to the name, Clann Health. “Clann” is the Irish word for family/community/tribe. What we aim to do at Clann Health is build a community who encourage and motivate one another to live their healthiest, happiest and best life!!

More than just a health club …….

You see, with Clann Health we aim to be more than just a Health Club. A big part of what we do is in giving back and helping others. We regularly take part in team adventure races and fundraise for worthy causes where everyone comes and works together to be a part of something bigger! Over the past couple of years our groups have joined together and completed challenging obstacle course races through rough terrain, testing marathons and 5K’s to raise hundreds of thousands of euro/dollars for worthy causes! And the exciting thing about it is that we are only getting started!!

You are your people ……… 

When I think of community and family I think of home. The logo colors Black and Amber signify this (“if you know, you know”). The symbol is a Celtic Trinity Knot. This signified the endless unity of family and the endless unity of Community in old Celtic Ireland.

We know what it’s like on both sides of the fence.  I have been that person stuck in a rut, the maker of poor choices, the doer of bad habits, the one lacking motivation and consistency. But I also know what it’s like to make positive change. You will feel better, you will sleep better, you will have more energy, you will be happier and you will be a better person all around! Remember that to make a change all it takes is that 1st action step.
